Julia - where did you get your dress?

Worst:
     In high school, I convinced my uber-conservative parents to let me have the house to myself to make a HUGE 6 course meal for my boyfriend. My boyfriend then decided to take a ton of illegal drugs that night and couldn't even eat anything let alone carry a conversation.

I am JUST like you Julia. I LOVE to dress up for Valentines Day and get all decked out in pink or red. My very worst V.D. was a couple of years ago. I had a HOT date with an older guy and with the help of my super stylish roommate I picked out this amazing red satin strapless dress to wear. I was getting ready at my apartment and my roommate was home. When I put on my dress and showed her, her jaw dropped. She told me I COULD NOT wear the dress. She said it was way too tight and that I had armpit boob (fat) hanging out the sides and back. I looked in the mirror and she was right ... the dress looked horrible! I was so stupid for not trying it on at the store! I changed into a plain wrap dress and my date picked me up and we had an OK time but we did not end up dating. Lesson learned... don't try to stuff yourself into a "sexy" dress when your body is saying NO!

I had the best valentine's day a few years ago. 

A few friends and I were living in our first awful post-college apartment and we invited all of our female friends over to watch romantic comedies. Everyone brought a bottle of wine and some snacks. After watching tv for a little bit and a couple of wine glasses each, we thought it would be fun to watch an adult film. One of the roommates had Snoop Dog's porn on hand and we watched it. The ten of us that were there had the most awesome time with the wine, cheese and porn just giggling like little girls. No Valentine's day with or without a date was as much fun as that year.

i had the same boyfriend all through college, and we had several elaborate, complicated valentine's day extravaganza.  but my favorite valentine's day ever was two years ago, while i still lived upstate.  i drove to work in a horrible blizzard, only to find out that almost no one had come into the office.  it was just me and my erstwhile someone special.  we'd had a steamy office romance through the summer and fall, and i'd dumped him after the holidays when the secrecy got to be too much.  we were very angry with each other and hadn't been speaking much. but that morning he lumbered into the office, shaking snow everywhere, and dropped one of the funny-shaped paper clips we occasionally received from on of our european clients onto my desk, in reference to an old inside joke of ours.  he smiled, whispered "happy valentine's day", and sauntered into his office.

shortly thereafter, my boss e-mailed to tell anyone who'd come in to go home for the day, as we were in for a lot more snow.  i went home to find my roommate had been released early as well, and when we were already bored by noon, we made cocktails and hunkered down with back episodes of lost on the dvr.  we were both hammered and passed out by 8pm that night.  it was the best drunkentine's day ever!

best & worst valentines day:

i was with my first love (at 21! late bloomer.) for 3 years.
he would do many things over the years. he cooked heart shaped pizzas and brought over movies for a 'night in'....wrote lovey notes, etc.  

but the best was when he planned a getaway to chicago to stay in a lush hotel and see my favorite band. i was excited for weeks! a huge blizzard came the day before we were scheduled to leave. and we had to cancel. devastated!.. i spent valentines day snowed in my house alone! somehow, my bf managed to contact the band directly and have them CALL ME before their show. oh it was truly the most thoughtful thing ever. i have no idea how he pulled it off. i'll never forget it. 

2 weeks later he dumped me. yep. amazing.

this year my best girl friend and i are each others valentines! we are both single still and so we are sending each other little bff love packages. chocolates. bows. girly things!
