The Waiting Game

loved this episode. and waiting is good. LOVE the site redesign!

I preface this by saying I do realize I'm the exception; I slept with my current boyfriend before we even had a date, mostly because we couldn't contain ourselves. We've been together for nearly 7 years. The same thing happened with the last guy I was with, and we were together for a year.

I guess my point is that I don't think it's just men who are pushing sex on women more aggressively; I think it's the environment in NY as a whole, including women. Thoughts?

Wow. Glad to see abstinence took a plunge to its death.  I hope impressionable teenage girls aren't watching this episode. I am apparently the only person alive who is waiting for marriage. And where does having sex with lots of men get you? You've all been dumped over and over again and left with nothing but obsessive memories and nothing special to give your husbands. I don't want to give any ounce of pleasure to any man who doesn't love me enough to put a ring on my finger first.  That's the kind of man who deserves sex. Anything else is immature and selfish. Sorry ladies.

What the heck?  As a guy, I want passion!  If you are dating guys who are putting the pressure on, you're dating the wrong guys.

It's up to the girl to make the move.  It doesn't matter if it takes months or on the first date.  In other words, if your working a formula, bases, etc., then you're really not doing yourself, your man, or the possible relationship any favors.  It really shouldn't require thought to know when the time is right, it should come naturally

ladies, as someone who has been watching these episodes since the beginning (and has witnessed both highs and lows), I have to say, this episode was really well done. I like that you were all talking about things that you actually knew about and cared about. you sounded like a bunch of girlfriends (and really, what is lifecasting about if not creating a weird friendship with all your readers?). I'd much rather continue hearing about your opinions and experiences than lists of links. this was really charming and you all came off really well 

(though I was waiting for mary at least to say something about having sex with the person you're dating when you want to, because you want to, and not on some commitment oriented timetable that ignores your own right to orgasm)

NS, you're being ridiculous. When it's right, it's right--period. Unless you don't like sex, in which case nothing I say here can help.
If the guy is worth being in a relationship with, he's not going to bolt because you gave it up too soon. However, MANY people would get frustrated with someone who's waiting purely because of "the rules," when everything else seems right.

You guys remind me of jr. high.  Grow up: move beyond the games.

This is by far the BEST episode. Please do more of these.

You guys remind me so much of the Sex and the City gang.  Except all of you are Samantha or Carrie..

From a guy's perspective, I wish that all women would just stick to their guns.  If they don't want to do something, they shouldn't.  If a guy's really putting the pressure on, chances are he's going to bolt soon anyway.  It's usually common sense, use your shadyguydar.

And people are obviously free to be with whomever they want, but I always wonder if girls ever think they might meet a nice guy some day that actually cares about their past.  Or if any girls care about a guy's past.  Maybe I'm just the only one left who cares about that stuff.

This is a cute episode, and I like the way you let yourselves get a little silly after taking on a solid, serious Topic (with a capital T!) last episode.  You each had me laughing out loud at least once in this segment.

Julia, "sloppy third" is the grosses thing I've ever heard.  And I kind of adore you for it.

F*** these mind games. If I am attracted to a person I'm going to sleep with them. Maybe not exactly on the first date, but I'm definitely getting real sexy on the second. The thing is, they might suck in bed, and that means you wasted 5 f**king dates on that person. Stop letting the forces of common society rule your carnal desires to pleasure yourself. Also, people need to realize that sex is a natural thing that should not be held so high on your puritan pedestal. The notion about saving and preserving, and keeping the number of your partners low is complete bullsh*t. Ideas such as this were put into your mind originally by organized religion to suppress natural human pleasures, making them a "sin" and undesirable, ONLY so that they can control the population with the idea of God or a holy power being the only source for your pleasure and worship.

Please ladies, are we 13? Go have wild passionate sex with anyone you want. And men, don't judge us if we wanna jump on your bones on the first date, we just think your hot.

Am I the only guy?  I have never pressured a woman.  I've probably lost opportunities (bad choice of words i know) because I always let the lady make the first move in that direction.  The only woman i ever slept with on the first date is my wife.  We dated 3 weeks, got married and are still married 4 children and 30 years later.  It's not a game, it just happens.

I have to say this was the best episode so far in terms of entertainment (although i liked the one on bpeace as well). 

Lacey123, I agree! Except for that part about him being a douche. If I go on a date and I think the guy might be a douche, then I probably wouldn't date him at all after that. :0

I have only slept with 4 guys ever - 3 being long term relationships, 1 being a rebound from one of those. My last relationship, I slept with the guy on our first group date and we actually dated for 2 years and thought fondly of that first time. My current relationship, I slept with him on the 2nd date and have no regrets about it and we are still together. I guess I don't date a lot and I only date guys that I think we have a solid connection, so it works for me. Normally I would make a rule of the 5th date, but you really have to see what the situation is each time. If you think he's going to be a douche about it, then yeah, make him wait.

Why would I wait? I enjoy sex, and dislike mind games...

i dont count number of dates necissarily. I wait a month if I want a relationship out of it. But your so right in saying guys are pushing it more and more. A friend of mine waits quite a while like julia and she has a lot of guys losing patience with her and dumping her even if they are having a good time because they essentially want to have sex before commiting to anything when she is the opposite.
