see you wednesday? don't you mean friday? i've started looking forward to these few minutes of thrice-weekly entertainment and want to make sure it's happening on certain days!

And I have to admit, I'm a girlie-girl who loves her some girlie-girl gifts...the flashier, the better.

And if a guy wants to score a real home run, hit the Swarovski crystal store and get some baubles---my man got me a whole bag of jewelry from there last year and I adored every bit of it...you get the class and flash of diamonds at less than half the price---what's not to love?

Also, he made me a "spa bag" filled with sponges and soaps and oils AND a gift certificate for a duo massage/facial at a spa in one of my favorite Southern cities...man, that guy can gift a gal like a mofro!

i have always dated poor men, thus, i have never received jewelry from a boyfriend and it sucks! at the moment, i am dating a very sweet boy who writes me super sweet love letters. however, he's too poor to buy me anything pricey! i wonder: julia, would you still REALLY prefer notes vs. jewelry if you were in my shoes? 

My boyfriend went on a trip around the world last year making a travel documentary show. On every step of the way, he wrote in a journal that I had given him about where he was, what he went through to get there, and always how much he missed me. It was the most romantic, heartfelt Christmas gift I could have ever imagined receiving. I keep it by my bed and read it whenever I am missing him. He still lives 3000 miles away :( 

The love letter thing is so spot on. I was going through a really tough time and a few days later in the mail, I got a simple sheet of paper with the lyrics to You Are My Sunshine. It was just that little note that turned my mood around

The most creative gift I ever did was a Menorah.  It was the first time we had celebrated Chanukah together, and we did not own a Menorah.  Rather than getting a traditional candelabra, I had one made that said "I Love You!".  Each letter and the exclamation point was a different candle.

I honestly have no idea if she liked it, but I was proud of myself for being creative enough to think of it.  After all, it is the thought that counts.

It's so true. Women LOVE love letters. Out of all the 'things' I've gotten (jewelry, etc.) what I look back on most are the various love letters my boyfriend wrote. I have a 6 pager from 3 years ago that STILL makes me melt.
