RECIPES FOR GREEN JUICE AND SMOOTHIES
Honestly, I just throw in stuff I like, but that can’t always be the best in terms of digestion. Combining sweet and tart fruits is not advised, for example (Click for basic breakdowns for Food Combining: Written, Visual). Veggies are a no brainer, always add them. And here’s a tip: if you’re making a pure green juice, which is the best for your body and easiest to absorb, you can add green apple to sweeten the mixture without hindering absorbtion of the nutrients.
Here are some recipes I found online, but I say, just go with what you like! I know it says “juice” on the recipe, but you can always throw the same ingredients in a blender.
Vegetable Super Juice
This juice is a popular one for breakfast as it gives your energy levels a boost, wakens your digestive system whilst giving your body a nutrition, yet gentle start to the day.
1 whole cucumber
4 sticks of celery
2-4 handfuls of spinach
8 lettuce leaves
Water
Any other greens!
Optional boosters: parsley and fresh alfalfa sprouts
Healing Detox Juice
A sweeter, more subtle juice which still packs a nutritional punch!
3-4 Carrots
125g Fresh Spinach
Handful of Flat Leaf Parsley
2-3 Sticks of Celery
Vegetable Juice Combo
2 Swiss chard leaves
1/2 beetroot
2 or 3 sprigs of watercress
3 carrots
1 celery stalk
Wash with filtered or distilled water, cut and put in juicer.
Strawberry Raspberry Blend
1 cup strawberries
1 cup raspberries
1 glass mineral water
crushed ice, if you like
1. Liquefy the raspberries and strawberries in a blender.
2. Pour over crushed ice.
3. Serves 1 with only 110 calories!
Morning Sunshine Smoothie
2 large oranges
1 red grapefruit
6 frozen strawberries
1/2 banana
1. Squeeze the juice from the oranges and grapefruit.
2. Put the juice in a blender and blend with the strawberries and banana.
Carrot Cleanser Juice
4 large carrots
1 stalk of celery
1 apple
handful spinach
juice from 1/2 lemon (optional)
~Oreo Cookie Milkshake~
Thats right..you read correctly.
Cacao Beans (ground)
Young Coconut Flesh
Young Coconut Water
Optional -
Honey, Seed Mylk or Mint Leaves
Here is what I keep handy to throw in a blender at will: kale (it’s my dark, leafy green), spinach, romaine, cucumber, green apple, pear, oranges, bananas, agave nectar.
