I work strictly with my boss, a highly eccentric, mildly abusive boss. Anyway, she couldn't understand why I would wear expesnive Fendi flats to work (bought on major sale, btw). What I really wanted to say to her is...if i have to sit here for 10 hours a day and be screamed at by you, at least I'm going to wear something on my feet that I LOVE looking  at every time you make me put my head down in shame!

I'm a huge fan of the pencil skirt and high waist trousers. Either of those paired with a crisp whit shirt and you can't go wrong. My personal favourite is a men's style tuxedo shirt paired with a black pencil skirt and red pumps. It may sound boring but in an office full of men its a good way it "fit in" while maintaining a level of female sophistication.

I have to admit, I fall into the group of women who wear leggings to the office. My office consists of 12 or so women (no men at our marketing agency), and the attire tends to be more trendy than professional. I have my fair share of Banana Republic in my closet, too, for the occasional business meeting. 

I think it's all about what's appropriate for your particular office and your particular line of work. I think as long as you always look pulled-together, and fit within your office dress code, you're fine.

Just no sweatpants. Never sweatpants. Just as leggings may not be pants, sweatpants are NOT leggings!

I have a wardrobe compiled mostly of Banana Republic - basically because all of the pieces are effortless and work well together.

What I do not understand, is why young women insist on wearing LEGGINGS to the office. They do not belong there, even if you work at a magazine. They are not pants!
