Awesome tips ladies, especially with all the holidays parties coming up. I'm going to a ritzy holiday party at the Rainbow Room and because of this episode, I want this deodorant because I can't get nasty whiteness on my nice dress!
I'm a Marketing Specialist, and completely agree with the sponsorship of this episode. It's product placement that actually fits the topic. Would it be any more effective to have a different deodorant that doesn't actually use the "little black dress" as their gimmick? No. Or how about using Whirlpool and emphasize keeping that dress clean? Something tells me that wouldn't be near as effective either.
It's just marketing sense to use products that match the topic and aren't just thrown in there like the last commercial. This is successful for all. You can't be successful on the web without sponsors, advertisers or products to sell. The negative comments come from those who don't understand marketing basics and think it's just annoying. If you understand how businesses work...you wouldn't even bother to comment on the ads. Ads are one of the biggest reasons businesses of any kind exist. Without them, we wouldn't be aware of anything to purchase and companies wouldn't make any profit.
Degree is happy tonight because it got more attention and discussion than the actual content of the video and that's the biggest success of all. Love it or hate it...you took the time to comment and discuss their product/brand. As a Marketing Specialist, that's one of my biggest goals...and you all proved it's success here.
Thank you SO much for the insight! Our audience and readership is the most important thing to us, without that we are nothing. Our number one goal for all marketing partnerships is that we must believe in the product. It's a delicate line (especially on the Internet) between keeping the transparency of sponsorship and endorsing a product. We are still learning how to do this without loosing our original authenticity.

As a guy, I just have to say thanks for the early Xmas present!
Of particular note, if Julia's black dress is the same as the one she was wearing with way too many strings of pearls ... ditch the pearls!!! Wearing that dress with the ribbon was a complete turnaround.
All of you look stunning!
P.S. Cheers for the new sponsor! (I really didn't care how the net was changing the recording industry anymore.) I'll make sure the women in my life use Degree Clear.
For the first time with this type of advertising, the girls did a nice job. The product was nicely tied to the topic.
With that said, in my opinion, when the product can be closely coupled to the topic, I think you would be better off putting it at the conclusion of the show. To me, that sequence makes references to the product during the show less obvious, which makes your insight seem more genuine.
I think the time allocated for the sponsor was appropriate. It must be really hard to get great sponsors that are big names. Congratulations ladies. It is a snowball effect and once you have a couple, I bet others will be easier. So to all of you out there with problems with the time alloted, ease up I am sure they were all loving the moment.
Thanks, Bobct! I think the ladies really do deserve a huge hand for bringing on a sponsor so soon, and Degree should get big thanks for supporting a new show on the web.

What Happened to Sister Mary BELINDA's comment about Julia's half inch of cleavage showing? I was having fun with that one. Someone get Belinda a date.

Isn't Secret the one that says "Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman"? You should make Harrinson the intern wear it to illustrate the product's relevance to your male audience.
The sponsorship seems perfect and remember, before there the advertisement in the middle of the episode that was probably a good thirty second, whereas this was the beginning and the end.
I'm glad you understand we have to pay the bills. It's our first go with a sponsor so we are trying to make everyone happy.
I'll tell you this though, I really like the product. I've been using Secret since middle school and never thought to try anything different, but this stuff is much better!
I personally am a fan of the ribbons and bows and its a great way to accessorize a Little Black Dress. Thanks for the tips! When buying a dress, I usually try to find something plain and spice them up with pins, scarves and shawls. Its much cheaper than buying a new dress and it goes a long way!
Hey Ladies!
Thanks for this episode!! So, I don't use Degree Clear, but I switch over!
I am wearing my little black dress today, (and little black sweater and cute little black birthday boots) and as I was checking my hot self out in my mirror this morning.. what did I notice!?
WHITE STREAKS! ahhh.
Great episode, just as my deodorant is running low, too.
I kinda liked Julia's bow. Maybe not in red, but in black? it's fun and cute.
and Mary's dress is going to look awesome with her new haircut. I'd like to see that.
and to the sponsor haters: jeez. chill out. the ladies gotta pay their rent, right? and pay for all the cute dresses! and the shoes...and the jewelry...it takes some money to look good.
Hmmm...I love this topic, but unfortunately, I hate the obvious sponsorship---this whole episode just felt like one giant deoderant commercial, honestly. And it's such a Catch22, because I know you NEED these products for support, yet the sponsorship was just soooo overwhelming that it dominated the entire theme of the show somehow. You dig my jive, ladies?
As for the LBD, I love to spice mine up with funky colored tights or hosiery, and maybe a big chunky necklace to pick up the color of my tights. Sweaters/blazers are always a nice addition, as well as belts and brightly-colored heels or boots...I love the vest idea you were rockin' there too, Meghan!
Alas, Julia, as fabu as your hot heels looked with that dress, I am so not feeling the ribbon---it just seems a bit too...juniors wear? Little girls look good in ribboned dresses, but I dunno about grown women...
And I know, you're a child at heart, and that's cool, but ribbons don't exactly scream "sophisticated big city fashionista"...but again, that's your style and I don't mean to knock it. If you like the ribbons, then by golly, you keep wearing them! ;-)
Man, I echo the sentiment on Mary's sleek dress...that is one fantastic frock on you, sistah! I WISH I could wear those sorts of dresses, but like Julia, my curves require mainly A-line dresses. Oh well...we can't have it all.

Honestly the sponsorship didn't seem too obtrusive to me.

Dear God. I understand that you need product placements/sponsorships in order to finance the show but, seriously, do they need to be THAT obvious? So tacky.. seems like a great product but I would definitely not buy it now. I think mentioning it once would have been satisfactory (afterall the show is only 4 minutes long).
That dress is sensational on you Mary.
Actually I think that this is the perfect sponsorship for this episode and it only seems obvious because it fits with what they are talking about and why not highlight a sponsor that fits so perfectly? Now I need me some Degree!

I did not say that the sponsorship was not good for the episode, it is. I actually said the product seemed great. Yes, I agree highlight a sponsor that fits perfectly but when does it become too much? This video talks about the sponsor for a good 50 seconds - 1 minute which is a lot when the episode is so short. I accept that people may disagree but, to me, it just seems so desperate. It's almost like this episode was made purely to advertise Degree; it has been one of the least informative episodes to date.

Hey Louise - thanks for the feedback. We really appreciate you watching and are working to integrate sponsors in the best way. We're doing it a little differently in every episode and really welcome any comments everyone has.
